In our latest Spotlight On feature, we chat to Craig Williams, managing director of vertical panel saw manufacturer Sagetech Machinery, about the growth of the business and its plans for the future, including growth in Europe.

Tell us more about Sagetech?

Sagetech Machinery is the leading, British manufacturer for innovative, reliable and safe vertical panel saws. We offer a range of vertical panel saws to suit small and larger business’s and we have recently brought on board a Desktop Engraver to complement our saws. We deliver our Vertical Panel Saws and Engravers all over the UK and also overseas to Europe and the USA with a global re-seller network. We regularly assess and improve our machines to ensure they are up to date with industry changes and have recently introduced our largest model, the TECHKUT which comes in 5 different sizes to allow for larger sheet cutting.

You’ve undergone rapid growth in the last couple of years haven’t you?

We certainly have. There is a huge gap in the market that our machines bridge for our industry which until recently the market didn’t realise existed. We have increased our marketing and attended more exhibitions to showcase our offering which has paid off. We have seen a significant increase, especially within the UK but we are also selling a lot of machines into Norway, Sweden and France. The international market place is a huge platform for us, and after doing Euro Trophex in 2018, we have made some fantastic connections and will be concentrating on European growth through 2019/2020.

You recently won an industry award didn’t you. Tell us more about that?

The award was given to us at Trophex Exhibition which we attended in January at Sandown Park Surrey. We had no idea that the awards were taking place, so for us to be not only nominated, but to win the award was fantastic and unexpected news. The award was for Best Product for Personalisation for our Desktop Engraver which we only launched towards the end of last year. Our team have put so much work into this Engraver, so being given an award by industry experts has been a great achievement for the team.

What are your plans for the future?

As we have received such fantastic feedback on our engraver, we plan to grow our desktop engraver range. We are aiming for a variety of models that uses the offcuts of our vertical panel saws as well as producing more complex models making them a standalone product for non-vertical panel saw owners.
We also plan to increase our re-seller network throughout the USA. We have a huge amount of interest in the USA as they are heavily involved in timber cutting and feel that we can massively increase our presence in America with some strong partnerships.
