Over 50 businesses from around the region have been given an insight into the support available to help them grow.

Peterlee Business Park Group working alongside Business Durham and LEC Communications and Design organised the ‘funding and business support’ event yesterday (Tuesday, June 20).

Some 27 businesses and organisations which provide support to facilitate growth were on hand to offer advice to attendees.

Among them were the University of Sunderland, NEPIC, East Durham College and the Technical Academy, Santander UK, Barclays, East Durham Business Service and County Durham Engineering and Manufacturing Network.

Also exhibiting was Durham County Council, RTC North, the North East Automotive Alliance, DurhamWorks, BEEP, Harbro Electrical, the LEADER programme and Get Active at Work.

Ben Gilhespy, operations director at CDEMN, said: “I was impressed with the quality of businesses inn attendance and hopefully some of them will come on board as CDEMN members and tap into the support we have available.”

Steve Metcalfe from NSK in Peterlee is Chairman of the Peterlee Business Park steering group. He said: “There was a great turnout and feedback from attendees was that the event was incredibly useful in showcasing the various funding pots and support programmes to help them grow.”
